Vision Centers
Why Vision Centers?
Traditional outreach camps offer limited-time services to specific audiences, primarily focusing on cataract identification and refractive errors. In contrast, our Vision Centers provide a continuous, local presence, allowing for:
- ● Comprehensive Eye Screenings: Beyond cataracts and refractive errors, we detect conditions like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
- ● Flexible Access: Patients can seek care at their convenience without time constraints.
- ● Affordable Services: Proximity encourages timely consultations, fostering better eye health.
- ● Tele-Ophthalmology: Access to expert ophthalmologists through advanced telemedicine technology.
The Vision Centers initiative, operated in collaboration with Pammal Sankara Eye Hospital, establishes permanent community-based facilities that provide comprehensive eye care services without the time constraints of traditional outreach camps. Each center is strategically located to serve over 115,000 individuals, with a goal to benefit more than 720,000 people over five years through prevention of avoidable blindness.
